Thoughts of Home

Where are you headed this Thanksgiving? In the coming days, many of us will board trains, planes, extra-large-capacity vans, four-wheel drive SUVs and app-driven modes of transport that rhyme with “tuber” and “miffed,” all in an effort to get to one place: home.
Traditionally, Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year, and we think that says something important: No matter who you are, where you’ve come from, what your family looks like or where you’ve ended up, the magnetic pull of a table (tiny kitchen bistro, rustic farmhouse or elegant 10-seater, it doesn’t matter) filled with family and fantastic food can’t be denied.
As a leading full-service real estate brokerage that has worked with so many homeowners over the years, we understand the importance of being able to go home for the holidays. Just this week, one of our sellers who recently went into contract told us about how her four kids (all now out of the house) planned on coming back to their childhood home for one last family Thanksgiving before the home is sold. The young family moving in next will no doubt have a wonderful first Christmas this year, and many more to come, in that same space.
Wherever you find yourself this Thanksgiving, we wish you safe travels, good health and all the comforts of home. And if you need some holiday-related fodder to get you through the trip (or the long, uncomfortable night spent tossing and turning on cousin Laura’s less-than-cushy pull-out couch), check out the links in this post.
Last year, numerous offers were made on homes through the Purplebricks app on Christmas Day! You don’t have to wait for regular business hours to make your next move toward buying or selling a home.
